Testing and development drivers, Bernd Schneider, Thomas Jäger and Jan Seyffarth have significantly contributed to the maturity of the Mercedes-AMG GT4. As was the case with the SLS AMG GT3 and Mercedes-AMG GT3, the collaboration of experienced drivers with the engineers in Affalterbach formed a key instrument throughout the elaborate vehicle development process. The open exchange of information among experts resulted in excellent driveability ─ a property that is characteristic of customer racing vehicles from Mercedes-AMG. The Mercedes-AMG GT4 will be subjected to additional, intensive testing phases before the first deliveries are made by the end of 2017.
On the table, for example, are over 30,000 racetrack kilometres to be driven. The new vehicle already proved its reliable long-stretch performance and high fatigue strength in a 30-hour endurance test carried out at racing speeds at the Lausitzring. To ensure that findings under real-world racing conditions are also incorporated into development, three prototypes will participate in selected test races during the ongoing 2017 motorsports season.
